If it didn't include the entire subscription base of RADAR magazine BEFORE, I'm guessing it does NOW.

Frightening stuff.

According to a senior government official who served with high-level security clearances in five administrations, "There exists a database of Americans, who, often for the slightest and most trivial reason, are considered unfriendly, and who, in a time of panic, might be incarcerated. The database can identify and locate perceived 'enemies of the state' almost instantaneously." He and other sources tell Radar that the database is sometimes referred to by the code name Main Core. One knowledgeable source claims that 8 million Americans are now listed in Main Core as potentially suspect. In the event of a national emergency, these people could be subject to everything from heightened surveillance and tracking to direct questioning and possibly even detention.

I believe Dr. Herbert Lunday maintained such a list as well!

Who was on *that* list, Kevin?

Every time I read one of these stories about the continuity of government and similar plans (which have been in place for decades) I'm left with the same conclusion: George Bush didn't put them into effect on September 11, 2001. You can argue with a lot of things about how he's responded to the terrorist threat, but in my not so humble opinion, had Al Gore or Bill Clinton been in charge, martial law would have been put in place - even without the legal framework of the COG plans. Grounding the missiles we call civilian aircraft, chasing suspects on Amtrak and even wiretapping and data mining don't compare to what I honestly expected that morning - roadblocks on the major highways manned by soldiers, curfews, confiscation of weapons. I'm not suggesting that we should trade liberty for security, but for a reasonable period lifeboat rules were in order. Now we're to the point that it's time for long term solutions.

Off-topic, but for several days after 9-11-01, I was giving the durka-durka brown moustachioed/dotheaded/be-turbanned crowd some long and hard looks as they chattered away in their native tongues, looking suspicious.

That's all (channeling Michael Savage)
